Working with raw materials, from precious metals to gems, glass, objects trouvees, and even other jewellery components, a skilled precious metal artist can produce whatever they have in mind.

Become a Precious Metal Artist
Jewellery fabrication using precious metals requires commitment, dedication and experience that was traditionally only achieved through long periods of apprenticeship. This comprehensive diploma incorporates new technologies and traditional techniques to accelerate skills development and build a deep understanding and appreciation for work with precious metals.
By becoming a Certified Precious Metal Artist, you develop the skills and confidence to produce unique and remarkable jewellery creations.
With a broad array of creative and challenging metalwork projects, structured time to practice and refine critical skills, and exposure to design and industry knowledge, JDMIS metal artists stand apart from their peers in the jewellery industry.
Certified Precious Metal Artists:
- fabricate jewellery with a variety of precious materials
- produce unique designs using advanced techniques
- combine skills from multiple disciplines to create unique masterpieces or reproducible lines of jewellery
- create according to their own styles, or work efficiently with clients to develop bespoke creations.
The Precious Metal Arts Advanced Diploma consists of the following modules:
Advanced techniques Moulds-Gold
Discover efficient methods for mass production using your own unique moulds. Apply gold foil on silver for cost effective designs. Work with 22K gold and master extra-fine gem setting techniques. Includes tools/materials. 30 Hours [Requires NM200]
Powder Metallurgy Masterclass
Integrate brass with silver through inlay technique. Produce large, reinforced pieces like bracelets. Combine silver & copper to form 'Mokume Gane' and complete 3 master projects to exhibition standards. Includes Tools/Materials. 30 Hrs [Requires NM300]
Adv. Techniques & Interm. Setting
Produce a professional Solitaire Ring with 4 prong setting, learn to size, repair & re-tip prongs. Develop bezel settings for faceted gems & create a tapered ring band with thread setting techniques. Includes Tools & Materials. 30 Hours [Requires MS200]
Casting Metals & Advanced Setting
Discover casting & wax production. Prepare & invest wax trees, perform calculations for the metals & cast jewellery to use for channel & pavé settings. Finish your cast pieces to professional standards. Includes all Materials. 30 Hours. [Requires MS300]

Are tools and materials included?
For certificate courses, the Professional Toolkit is a one-time add-on — same tools as your instructor, full materials for every project, ships worldwide, and students with it complete 85% more projects. It is required for immersive training. For diplomas, all tools and materials for coursework are included in the S$10,800–12,800 fee — and the tools are yours to keep after graduation.
Can I pay in instalments?
Yes. Atome splits payments online; foreign students use the CASE-accredited escrow required for Student Pass issuance.
How do diplomas work if they're modular?
Each diploma is a sequence of 30-hour certificate components. You can start any time with any component and complete the diploma at your own pace; the comprehensive diplomas include capstone projects and the Enhanced variation adds two assessed projects (+S$1,880).
Do I get a certificate?
Every 30-hour component earns a JDMIS certificate, verifiable through the JDMIS Register of Professional Qualifications. Diplomas and advanced diplomas are awarded on completion of all components plus capstones.
What if I already have experience?
Module credit is possible: identify the modules in your application with supporting transcripts/evidence, and the admissions board reviews within 4–8 working days.
